M6 Research, Inc. designs, manufactures, and tests FPGA based ASIC emulation boards and systems. A majority of our customers design ASICs or FPGAs and use our products to accelerate their design cycles. In addition to these systems and services, we offer engineering accessories such as Mictor adapters and Mictor-to-Mictor cables.
Mictor™ Products
We manufacture Mictor based adapters and cables for general purpose debugging. Our popular 38-position Mictor Breakout boards adapt surface mount Mictor signals to stake headers for use with a logic analyzer, oscilloscope, or other test equipment. Additionally, we sell high-speed 50 ohm controlled impedance Mictor-to-Mictor cables. These cables transmit high-speed signals between emulators or any boards with Mictor receptacles.
ASIC Emulators
We have two types of emulators – stock modules or custom.
Our stock modules consist of a single FPGA and support circuitry such as FLASH memory, power supplies, PCI bus connector, and Mictor adapters for debugging. These modules can be used to stand-alone or to be enhanced with I/O daughter cards to meet specific needs. The module advantages are flexibility, low cost, and fast delivery. Modules can be connected together to increase emulation gate count.
Our custom emulators usually represent an entire chip on a board. Designs may include multiple FPGAs, system memory, configuration memory, power supplies, clock management, and customer specified I/O. These emulators often operate at or near full speed within the limits of the FPGAs. We work closely with your architects and designers to quickly deliver emulation hardware allowing ASIC designers to load compiled RTL into FPGAs. Software teams can use these emulators to debug drivers and algorithms prior to receiving silicon. In addition to delivering ASIC emulation systems, we can efficiently design custom bring-up boards, development boards, and evaluation boards for your silicon.
